From Water Resources to Commons: Reframing the Mhadei Dispute
Jointly presented by Prof. Peter R. deSouza, Prof. Lakshmi Subramanian, Dr Solano Da Silva, and filmmakers Gasper D’Souza and Shrinivas Ananthanarayanan, this presentation and film screening explore how research on the Mhadei water-sharing dispute moved beyond techno-centric debates to engage with the river’s geological, ecological, cultural, and political temporalities.
The session will present key insights from The River Mhadei: The Science and Politics of Diversion, followed by a screening of Maa Dei, which visually captures the river’s cultural life and beauty. The audience will also be introduced to the open-access repository
